Nah, you're still missing it really.

I'm not missing the point at all, Jonah.

I don't need to look at my attitude. Away from being a prick on a silly football messageboard, I do and have always treated women with the respect they deserve, as I do with anyone I meet. But I accept there are, not in EVERY case, but in most cases, fundamental differences between your average man and your average woman. Men are more adept at sports, manual labour, they are stronger physically, the rip the fuck out of each other down the pub, and they enjoy watching sports. Women are better at organising, they're more mature, they support each other when they go to a bar for a girlie night out, and they don't really like watching sports.

As I say, this is not every single case, but it probably makes up 80% of the civilised world. Stop living in guilt, embrace the differences between us, and have a laugh about it. That's what MOST normal people do.

Eerie think if a female football fan said she fancied a player her credibility as a fan would probably be questioned no matter what they knew about the game or how long they'd been a fan.

Yet if a bloke says he fancies a female player nothing would normally be said.

That said.....Julian Dicks.

I think you're missing the point a little Eerie.

So many of the comments directed at these women are to do with their looks, their sexual orientation, whether they should be out of the kitchen etc.

It happens with sportswomen, it happens with commentators and presenters.....those same comments would NEVER (or very, very rarely) be made about men in the same position, so why should they be made about women?

The whole MeToo and TimesUp movements should really be making people, mostly men, look at their attitudes.....the prevailing attitude that it's absolutely fine to denigrate, belittle or criticise someone purely because of their sex is what has to change.

As uncomfortable as it makes some men, a change in attitude is long overdue.

I'm aware of that, Debs. I did say mainly those I've met, there are of course a few exceptions. But I would say, genuinely, you could count on one hand girls that I have met that have been proper football fans.

That aside, have you never made a comment about how good looking a player is? Why are the women in the Youtube clip so annoyed about that?

I bet a penny to a pound that if a couple of male professional footballers were shown a few tweets of women saying they 'fit', they'd laugh.

'Presuming she is a woman is taboo'

He. I probably inadvertently committed a criminal act there.

sorry Eerie just pointing out that not all us women like football because they fancy a player.

What a strange, puritanical age we live in. Saying you find a good-looking, athletic woman attractive is taboo when it is probably the most natural thing in the world.

We live in really, really weird times and it’s incredible how quickly that cultural shift happened.

My mrs reckons that the reason there are no female premier league managers is due to sexism...

Never liked West Ham because of individual players being 'fit' but then i.was 8

I've just watched the first minute of the clip in the OP. Fuck knows why, but I felt compelled.

The 'tweet' about the new signing being 'fit'

Now, I'm not being fucking funny, but the majority of birds I've ever known that have claimed to be football fans (not many, truth be told) have been obsessed with individual players more than teams, and it's always because that player is 'fit'
